Why is The Lore Update 4 Taking so long?


Hello, mine_greg is here. Today I wanted to write a post about The Gore Update 4, as it's taking some time to make.

Let's talk about the next update and what happened during the development.

While I was coding the game, I noticed something unusual: when testing, the player could straight up phase through walls.

If it was a little bug? No. The game files were COMPLETELY CORRUPTED.

This thing, related to other bugs you can find in the game, the availability for only windows computers, got me thinking: why don't we upgrade the game? Like, i'm using RPG Maker VX, made for WINDOWS XP COMPUTERS?? So, I decided to buy RPG Maker MV, the latest version. Well, if you thought that I just copy pasted the textures you're wrong.

You see, the textures that I made for RPG Maker VX are 32x32 pixels each tile. But the textures for RPG Maker MV, they are 24x24 pixels each tile. I had to completely redraw them. At this point I had two options: draw 24x24 textures or double the pixels' size and draw 12x12 textures, but with this option I had less resolution to work with and that was convenient, as many people would not play the game in fullscreen, and that means that the scaling reduces the textures with double pixel size (24x24) in 12x12 textures.

At the end, I chose the double pixel size.

Then, I had to recreate all the rooms. From scratch.

And now, I'm coding again all the textboxes, the messages you find, the hidden pages that you can read, the boss battles? (wait, is this a spoiler or something...?). I promise, the next update will be fire.
